MCAULEY JUNIOR THIRD IN STATE IN TRACK

July 2, 2010 – McAuley High School junior Danielle Pfeifer recently placed third in the state of Ohio in track. She completed the 800-meter run at the State Meet on June 5 at Jesse Owens Stadium at The Ohio State University with a personal best time of 2:11.07. This record also broke the McAuley record for the 800, which had been previously set by Danielle herself. Danielle is also a leading runner on McAuley’s cross country team, and accrued other honors this spring including All-Ohio Runner, First Team Enquirer All-Star, GGCL Runner of the Year, and First Team GGCL. Danielle truly lives a brilliantly balanced life. In addition to running track and cross country for McAuley, she babysits part-time, is a member of McAuley’s Women in Medicine Program, is a class senator on Student Council, and is active in Key Club and Ambassadors Club. Danielle is the daughter of Tim and Julie Pfeifer of Monfort Heights.

McAuley Coach Inducted in LaRosa's Hall of Fame

June 27, 2010 - Cross Country and  track distance coach, Mr. Ron Russo, was inducted into the LaRosa’s Hall of Fame. Russo is beginning his second year as head coach at McAuley and 23rd year of coaching cross country.

Russo, who formerly coached at Colerain High School, is enjoying his coaching experience at McAuley. He shares, “We certainly believe that we are beginning to see collective performances that we feel will elevate the program to one of the best in the state...and, we expect to make that a year-in-and-year-out goal. Last year, we were ranked seventeenth at the end regular season in the State Coaches Poll. So, we began to catch a lot of people's attention throughout the season. We expect to continue to build this program into something very special that McAuley can be very proud of."
