Fifty-seven McAuley sophomores and juniors were inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS) during a special ceremony in McAuley's Performing Arts Center on April 11. NHS is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.
Congratulations to our new NHS inductees:
In addition to the 57 new inductees, there are 84 McAuley juniors and seniors who are also current NHS members. Co-Presidents are seniors Abby Ewald and Hannah Smith. Senior Olivia Dillman is secretary, and senior Maria Hemmelgarn is treasurer.
Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in NHS activities. NHS chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. territories, and Canada.
